Bara means ‘bread’ in Welsh - a simple, nourishing symbol of togetherness. At Bara, we believe that food can do more than fill you up. It can connect people, create opportunity, and build a stronger, fairer community.

What we do

Affordable Options

We are working with local food banks, offering vouchers, so that more people can access our food. Our £1.50 filter coffee is always available.

Entry-to-Work Programme

We are building an entry-to-work programme to support refugees, asylum seekers, and other marginalised groups with hands-on barista and kitchen training. Our goal is to offer real, paid experience that builds skills and confidence.

Open-Door Space

We make our café available outside of trading hours for local groups, supper clubs, and grassroots events, especially those led by diaspora communities or focused on social justice.

Food Redistribution

We operate as a low-waste kitchen and donate any unsold food at the end of each day to local food banks and community fridges.
